The ÖBB 5047 038-4 at Markt St. Aegyd am Neuwalde
(Traisentalbahn)
This is a terminus stop, no overtaking loops are built. There's a station one kilometre back toward St. Pölten, locomotive-hauled bikers' trains usually change direction there. The railway went on to Kernhof station until 1988, but now a buffer stop closes the line just 20 metres behind the photographer. It's interesting that Kernhof station was at about a hundred meters higher than St. Aegyd, at 688,8 m, which is a lot for a valley railway compared to the Lavantalbahn's 880 m at Obdach or the Wechselbahn/Aspangbahn's 700 m high main tunnel.
