This picture shows a locomotive in the current paint scheme based on the original livery, but with a more modern, more dynamic stripe. The other important object in the photo is the TV-tower, a symbolic view of the station. Originally they planned a large concrete tower with a restaurant and a panoramic walkway like at Berlin, at the Alexanderplatzs, but they didn’t have the money, so first a small block, then a steel rod was erected at the summit, despite there ae many panoramic TV-towers i the country at less frequented places. Budapest lost an attraction, but maybe when we won’t need surface TV-syndication and peer-to-peer microwave transmissions the old block can be converted into something extravagant.
