The RhB Ge 6/6^II 706 on the Albula-III viadukt

Freight traffic is an important part of the life of the Albulabahn. We were lucky by that the freight trains we saw were relatively long - nowadays I often spot the big locomotives with just 2 or three goods waggons on the Filisur webcam . The road below the train is the main road to Albula-pass (doesn't look very main). In winter there used to be car carrier trains between Thusis and Samedan but by the opening of the Vereina-tunnel they became superfluous. Now the Engadin can be reached even those days when they have to close the Splügenpass.
