The RhB Ge 4/4^II 627 with a Valserzug (short freight train from Landquart to Ilanz carrying mostly the bottled mineral water from Vals) between Castrisch and Ilanz

The Ruinaulta (Rhein gorge) ends before Castrisch and the landscape becomes more flat. This is one of the most popular freight train photographing sites on the entire RhB network as apart from the long freight trains with Ge 6/6^IIs going all the way to Disentis there are also 2-3 (depending on the season) short freights daily to Ilanz, usually with a Ge 4/4^II or sometimes even a Ge 4/4^I. The water comes bottled to Ilanz on lorries where it is loaded on the trains and moved to the central warehouse of the Valser company at Untervaz.
