The RhB Ge 4/4II 630 and the Ge 3/3 215 at Samedan, the Eastern centre of the Rhätian Railways
Samedan is more important speaking about the railway than the town itself: it's an important junction with connections to Pontresina and the Engadin, the second biggest depot and locomotive repair works operates here, while the town lives in the shadow of the world-famous celebrity den of St. Moritz and it's even more posh sister town of Pontresina. They say Samedan is the third vertex of the Golden Triangle
, especially since the construction of the airport where sometimes business jets land every three minutes.
The push-pull set with the big red locomotive arrived from Pontresina and it awaits the St. Moritz to Chur RegioExpress to call at the same platform to provide connection.
The orange locomotive is one of the two Stammnetz (mainline) electric shunters that probably brought some freight cars over from the nearby Cho d'Punt freight station and container terminal.
