The village is the other way, you must go through it to climb the huge hill on top of which the ruins of the Szanda castle stand. This small fortress defended these lands (together with the slightly bigger Drégely and Nógrád, and the much bigger Eger) form the Turks in the 16th century. A vulcanic, nearly vertical hill can surprise the hikers who are indulged in the 200-metres-high collines of the Cserhát.
