The controller
After we successfully got on the train we bought our tickets from the controller (reuglarily you should buy them at the station so the income counts to the mainline). He was very friendly and talkative as it’s usual with branch line controllers here. We’ve been talking about numerous things, line closures for instance. Unfortunately this line is due to be closed as few people use it: there weren’t more than ten people on the train who seemed to be regulars, but occasional tourist and schoolgroups should make up for the running of the trains. It’s a shame the National Park isn’t interested a bit in the fate of this narrow gauge railroad as opposed to Duna-Dráva National Park which helps a lot with the Gemenc forest railway.
