Trains passing by at Szokolya
(Duna-Ipolyvölgyi HÉV)
Though a station fully opened for passenger traffic the village is two kilometres away on the other side of the hills, a real hike getting there (it's served by a narrow gauge railway running in the next valley). The station is more like a passing loop as the Diósjenő-Vác hourly services meet here at about halfway. The station could have a big freight traffic though, but companies are reluctant to start new freight trains in the region and pulling down the loaded log cars with a Bzmot is just one less than blasphemy to Hungarian railwaymen.
