It was possible to organize the Retro Weekends, the iconic events of line 29 on the North shores of the Lake Balaton after all. As the Székesfehérvár-Balatonfüred section is under electrification and does not look nice at all we focused on the intact Balatonfüred-Tapolca section, and after last year's shots we managed to add a few neat, new ones this year. We did not stay at an accomodation for the night at this time, maybe at the next Retro Weekend at the beginning of August.
In some of the pictures I tried to show that Balaton is more than just a lake and emphasize the cultural and gastronomical heritage of the region, in this case, the vinery and the wine production of the Balaton Highlands (Balaton-Felvidék).

The MÁV M41,2103 has been repainted to its factory red livery in 2019. Only the first few locomotives had this paintjob with the communist star stylyzed in silver outline inside a circle between the windshields. Later locomotives until number 2125 came in the same crimson livery with additional silver stripes on the sides and a large MÁV emblem, a colour that 2103 also received. All other locomotives were originally produced with the now-standard MÁV livery with a slightly more orange colour that locomotives below 2125 also gradually received. This retro locomotive was the star of the Retro Weekend of 2020 together with the three new, retro-Bhv cars in the deep, old MÁV-green. The locomotive features a new side and front road number plaque but lacks the red star. It is also inaccurate in that originally this locomotive was produced with the 45-degree spring-kind bogies, not the vertical-spring version, this error is going to be corrected later (bogies are liberally exchanged under class M41 locomotives in everyday usage). The original locomotive also did not have a mirror, but now it is necessary, so it will remain.

The other attraction of the Retro Weekend at Lake Balaton was the historic steamer hauling the first publicly timetabled train since 1984, the halt of passenger steam operations in Hungary. The Nurmi hauled six cars of late sixties livery and sported a red star on the front.

Last year, the M41 224 participated alone on the first weekend, then on the second one, the older generation M40,114 took the part, later accompanied by the orange livery M40,209 as backup. This year only double locomotives were assigned, which is historically accurate as for heavier duties the Púpos/Humpback often was not sufficient in a single unit. The tunnel near Balatonakarattya, where I photographed and filmed the M40 224 last year is a shot of historical significance as the section has been electrified since, although it is not yet turned on:
