The RhB Tm 2/2 115 Schöma shunter locomotive at Ilanz station

He is equipped with a snow shovel of course! His job is to collect all the freight cars loaded at the stations between Reichenau-Tamins and Ilanz and at the sidings in the Ilanz area. As the station is tightly fit between the river and the town there are only four tracks out of which only two are long enough for full trains, either passenger or freight. Even though passenger trains meet at the neighbouring Castrisch as Ilanz has to build a few freights a day, and in the morning and evening even works as a terminus for peak-hour commuter services the station is often very busy.
