Zalaszentiván is busy junction where the Boba-Zalaegerszeg (no. 25) and the Szombathely-Nagykanizsa (no. 17) lines intersect. The station is only a few decades old, as originally the two railways were built by two companies who had separate stations linked with a short curve. You can easily follow the old tracks on the satellite imagery. The two lines intersected so that line 25 had an overpass over line 17. In the days of the photo there were a number of regional trains, served with Bzmot railcars and fast trains with locomotives running along line 17, with some regional trains between Szombathely and Zalaegerszeg, or Nagykanizsa and Zalaegerszeg. Today the Northern part of line 17 is operated by GYSEV/Raaberbahn, and most of their Jenbacher railcars stop at Zalaszentiván, though evening services still go to Zalaegerszeg. The trains covering the entire line 17 have been a little bit reduced though, but there are good connections at Zalaszentiván (also, you may see four completely different trains on the four platform tracks now).
