The driving trailer and the new, steel chassis are all modifications of the BHÉV. In their original configuration the railcars didn't differ by much from the steam railcars and of course they had to switch sides at the terminus. BHÉV didn't use switchback loops at most of its lines because almost all electric trains ran with powered cars on both ends coupled with control cables.
