The Kibel (cornichorn) is the typical Polish electric multiple unit, but it originates from the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Tricity
area, where the first electric multiple units had been Berlin S-Bahn trains moved from live rail to catenary feeding. Pafawag started to manufacture trains similar to these just a little later. The standard setup is driving trailer+motor+dirving trailer, but the Zakopane line (and other montainous routes) see double-motorised unit trains. With nickname Gomulka they also appeared in Yugoslavia and are still visible in most of Poland (one version or the other) and Slovenia:
